Upgrade Windows XP Professional to Windows 7 Home Premium?
2. februar, 2010
Are you planning to embark on this journey? This is what I learned:
- The Norwegian Microsoft Support sucks. They told me a lot of rubbish, and they could not suggest any actions apart from filing a complaint.
- It is not possible to do a clean install even though you have a valid XP Product Key.
- It is possible to do an upgrade from a working XP installation.
- My 4,5 year old IBM Thinkpad T43 with 512 Mb RAM is running Windows 7 pretty well with the Aero Windows 7 theme. (I have ordered a memory upgrade!)
- My first impression of Windows 7 is very good!
- If you, like me, happen to do the upgrade on a PC 2000 miles from home, and have forgotten the XP disc (…but not the Product Key which is printed on the Certificate of Authenticity on bottom of the laptop), leave the Windows 7 Product Key field blank and continue. This gives you at least a 30 day fully functionable installation, and should keep you going until you get home.

Forleden hadde jeg et påtrengende behov for tilgang til en e-mail-korrespondanse med et kontor i Spania. Korrespondansen ble slettet for flere uker siden. Hva gjør man?
